I’m having Glimpse of Gold feels today, all over the place.  So I started to gather up sketches and what not of what I’ve drawn while writing.  These are just a few. 

First one is little Tethys, John, and Sherlock swimming around.  (Or in Sherlock’s case, trying to not drown.) 

Second one is more studies of Tethys as a whole and a random picture I took while on a trip to the Sea a while ago.  It is also the same photo that I cropped and blew up and put text on for the banner that I made.  Tethys is a combination of a bunch of really tough, awesome Mermaids through-out lore and stories.  I rather love her.

Third is Sherlock, Mycroft, and Sherrinford’s parents.  Odette and Sydney Siger Holmes.  They look pretty swank even though they’re only sketchy here.  But Sherlock definitely looks like his Mummy and Mycroft looks like Daddy Holmes.

For some reason the sensation felt familiar, but for the life of his oxygen starved brain, he couldn’t figure out why. He quickly stopped trying as he continued to flail uselessly beneath the waves, his hands swiping at nothing and getting him nowhere. At this rate he’d drown in no time, but at least the constant buzzing in his brain would finally stop.}

^{Sherlock tried to open his eyes in a burst of panic, but only got a bright flash of color and the harsh burn of salt water before he shut his eyes tightly again and prayed that one of his crew had seen him go over board. That it was someone under his employ that had seen him go under and was now trying to haul him to the surface for air. Because if it was the Merman, then he was doomed either way, and just hoped that nothing was left of his corpse once he’d been drag to the bottom and consumed.}

Okay, so. I’ve worked on this all week, you’d better appreciate my work. 8’I
fgdfgsaa, j/k. But really, you all are probably squinting at the idea of merman!John, and I admit at first I was wary too, but this fic stole my heart. I love how it’s wonderfully written, I love how Katie translated the Sherlock characters into this universe, and this John is pretty much the most adorable thing eVER. 8’I

So yeah, I recommend it.

As for the fanart, this was my first time ever drawing and painting an underwater scene, and I’m quite satisfied with the result. C:
